The crosswalk Pong game is now a real thing

    Waiting for the walk signal at crosswalks can be agonizing. In 2012, college students from Germany seemed to offer a solution in the form of a multiplayer Pong game that's built into crosswalks. But alas, it wasn't real.


    This time, though, it is


    The positive reaction to the concept prodded the students to realize a street version of one of the most iconic arcade games. The group founded a company called Urban Invention, and they've already installed a few prototypes in Germany.




    When someone arrives at a crosswalk, the game is activated. People waiting on the opposite ends can each control a Pong paddle using a touchscreen display that connects to the street post. Players can battle until it's OK to cross the street. Read more...
