White House establishes new agency dedicated to cybersecurity

The White House has a new cybersecurity agency that will focus on dealing with threats against both the U.S. and American businesses, officials announced on Tuesday

The Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center will be modeled after the National Counterterrorism Center, which was established in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. The agency will not collect any additional intelligence. It's meant to assist existing agencies, such as the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, rather than replace them.

"We are at a transformational moment in the evolution of the cyberthreat," Lisa Monaco, White House homeland security and counterterrorism adviser.
